Can’t download music from iTunes to Computer!

One of my biggest complaints regarding use of iTunes is the fact that you can’t download music from your iPod, through iTunes onto your computer. While I realize and accept the rationale - so you can’t pirate music from your friends - it is frustrating nonetheless.
The inability to download music from your iPod means that you must either:
- keep the music available on your computer (together with the neccessity to tie up disk space) so as to keep the music available to iTunes, or
store it external to your computer (i.e. on the original CD’s or an external hard drive). This option requires you to re-load your music all over again
So, what’s the problem you ask? Well, let’s say you loaded all your music on oyur iPod in a fit of exuberance then, having it safely on your iPod, you deleted the music. Oops, you forgot to set up your music in Playlists, so you have your rock music side by side with your classical. Now, you either have to re-load all your music or individually select the music to which you want to listen. Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to download it all back to iTunes from your iPod, or to be able to access your music on the Ipod through iTunes, so as to organize it?
I guess it is time to bite the bullet and re-load all my music again so I can set up playlists? What a nuisance!
