Sonos Control through iTouch

For Christmas, I gave my wife a Sonos system - essentially an MP3 player on steroids. You can access music stored as mp3 files on your computer, or on a SAN through a router. Full access to all your music and only limited by the storage capacity of your computer.

My brother bought one several years ago and has been recommneding we get one. He set it up and got it running for us, then downloaded an “App” on each of my daughters iTouches. Now they can select music, set-up music queues, adjust the volume, start, stop … and otherwise use their iTouches as controllers for the Sonos system.

This opens up tremendous opportunities for my daughters with regard to their own music. All the family’s music can be stored on a SAN device or computer. They can buy a separate zoneplayer and speakers so as to have their own system in each of their rooms, capable of accessing approximately 180 Gb of available music. Far better than any of the iPod models available to date.

Furthermore, they can place a selection of their current favourites on their individual iPods for thier travels around town, as well as their various “Apps”.

Sum total = a much more versatile and efficient use of their respective iTouches.

  1. Hi, good post. I have been wondering about this issue,so thanks for posting. I’ll definitely be coming back to your site.

  2. The Sonos system is an mp3 player on steroids. It can access, and play, your complete music library, any any portion thereof. You can access radio stations from around the world, from a wide range of genres. AND, you can control it all from your iTouch / iPhone. We love ours.

  3. this is exactly the post I needed to see!
