BCE to offer iPhone in Canada

I love the iPod Touch, particularly given the huge number and variety of applications available. I also have a cellphone, however, one of the biggest reasons why I don’t have an iPhone is that I would have to subscribe to Rogers Communications in order to get service. If you are like me and would like to have an iPhone but don’t want to activate one through Rogers, hold off buying yours until next month. Continue Reading…

Tech Note Re: Overheating iPhone 3G / 3G S

First and foremost, as a general statement, performance of your iPod is dependent (to some degree) on the operating temperatures in the environment.  ”Your iPod works best from 32° to 95°F (0° to 35° C). You should store it in environments of -4° to 113° F (-20° to 45° C). … Keeping your iPod as near room temperature as possible (72° or 22° C) is ideal. Continue Reading…

Battery Drain - iPhone 3G S

In reading reviews and a wide variety of comments following release of the iPhone 3GS, one recurrent theme is the issue of battery drain. Apple claims the iPhone 3GS has longer battery life. In addition, a SFGate review states the “… battery life has also been improved on the 3G S. Apple says you can get nine hours of Internet use with Wi-Fi, 10 hours of video playback and 30 hours of audio playback, all of which are improvements of at least three hours or more over the 3G. Talk time, however, remains the same at five hours on the 3G network”. Continue Reading…

iPhone 3GS Release

The recent release of the iPhone 3GS (June 19, 2009)  represents AT&T’s “Best-Ever Sales Day”. According to AT&T, it took a mere three (3) days for Apple and AT&T to sell the first million iPhone 3GS, as compared to 74 days for the first million iPhones in 2007. Furthermore, “hundreds of thousands …” were ordered through the pre-order process immediately preceding “iLaunch day 2009″. In addition, there were six million downloads of the new iPhone 3.0 software in the first five days since its release.

TimeLapse

I have always been interested in time lapse photography. We have all seen them, clouds rolling across the landscape, flowers opening, sunspots moving across the solar disk, and many more besides. There is a new application available called TimeLapse that allows you to take time lapse sequences using the 3 megapixel camera in the newly released iPhone 3GS. Continue Reading…
